About Me

My name is Emily, and I am mama to the boy trifecta.

Yeah, Sawyer hasn't figured out that "say cheese" means smile.

This is my husband, Bryan. We met and dated in high school, but didn't get married until many, many years later after a very long "break" in our relationship. Like, I hadn't seen or heard from him in 8 years when out of nowhere he "poked" me on Facebook (yes, really), and now the rest is history. 

When I'm not busy being mama and wife, I'm finishing my PhD in Sociology. In a few months, I won't hesitate to make you call me "DOCTOR Emily". :) I teach undergraduate courses in gender, family, sexuality, research methods, and statistics. My research focuses on inequality (mostly race and gender), and I'm writing my dissertation about time use patterns in single parent families.

In my spare time, I love to sew, crochet, and knit.  I started this blog because, as I looked to crafty blogs for ideas for my boys, I came up sort of empty. There is no shortage of skirts and ruffles and frills out there in the crafty blogosphere, but our boys so often get ignored. I'm doing my best to come up with fun and creative ideas for boys and share them here. 

Aside from my men, I love music, creative people, smart women, peppermint mochas, hiking in the mountains, and good friends.
