You've convinced me...

...to put some bags in the shop.

I found another source for the gold velveteen (I think I may have single-handedly taken the bolt from my local store!) so I am going to put a bag pre-order listing up in my (terribly neglected) Etsy shop, for those of you who prefer not to make it yourself. It will take about 2 weeks or so before anyone GETS a bag they order though, because I have to wait for the velveteen to arrive before I start sewing.

No fear, for those who want to make it themselves, the tutorial is still coming. I (stupidly) did not take pictures along the way, and quite literally just sort of put it together through trial and error, so I've had to reconstruct the whole thing from scratch - pattern pieces and all. I promise the tutorial will be up this week, but in the meantime, if you would prefer to purchase, here's the link!

Also, note the name change. My attorney husband suggested I change the name to avoid any trademark issues. Good lookin' out, honey.

In the meantime, if you plan to sew the bag yourself, and would like to use the same materials I did, here are some online sources:

The velveteen is available at Above All Fabrics (also a purse week sponsor!)

The purple dot is available at my favorite local fabric store, Sew to Speak.

  1. How much of each fabric do I need to make the bag? And by "do I need" I mean "should I buy" my craftalicious mother in law? ;) I'd just buy the purse (such a good idea, listig it on etsy!) but I'm pretty sure my husband would leave me if I spent that much right now.

  2. Hi Anna! I would buy a yard of the outer fabric, and 3/4 yard of lining fabric. There will probably be a bit left over. I would also have her get 3/4 yard canvas OR 1.25 yard fusible interfacing. If you want a magnetic snap, pick one of those up too. :)
