Boden Challenge 2

My second Boden Challenge was to attempt these brushed tartan cargos for my 8 year old.

Here is the result:

There are a few minor differences between mine and Boden's but largely they are the same. Boden's have a drawstring in addition to the elastic waist. I think that is about the only difference. I used some British Frenzy apparel fabric from JoAnn's - 30% off. These probably cost me about $20 to make, because the amount of fabric needed for a size 10 pant is more than 2 yards! Luckily, there are enough scraps leftover to make a pair in a 6 month size for the littlest boy in my house.

Here is a close up of the cargo pocket.

And we have one happy customer. He told me "Mom, these are pretty much my perfect pants. They are soft, and they have pockets. I might wear them for 2 weeks". Well. How about that. I was a little concerned that they look a bit too much like pajama pants (which, in hindsight, I think the Boden version is pajama-esque too), but he loves them and can't wait to wear them to school. He did refuse to take them off for bed though, so they must be as soft and comfy as pj's.

He has also declared them his football pants. Go bucks!
